5 things to do when business feels quiet and leads aren't coming in
Covering some quick and mostly easy things I would do ( and I do ) when business gets quiet.
Because every so often in business, we can hit the slow season. You know, the dry spell — where you know you're really good at what you do… but the enquiries feel a little slower coming in and the sound of crickets seems a little louder.
Here's a quick-fire list of things to get some visibility going…
Website. Check that your website says what you do, who you help, and why you are different from the rest, all within the first 5 seconds. Specifically what you do. And not with fancy words, just plain language.
Social Post. I get it, most of us don't want to post, or don't know what to post. But it doesn't matter if it's a bit messy. Just get on there and have some fun. We just want to see you. We want to see what you do, how you do it, a bit about you…
Networking / DMs / Messaging. A little one-on-one conversation can do wonders. Catching up with past clients, acquaintances, and even meeting new people can lead to new, exciting, and potential conversations.
Email Marketing. Often neglected, this handy tool sends a straight-to-the-inbox email to all of your favourite clients. It's an easy way to say hello, introduce yourself and your services, and start a conversation.
And yes, I know it feels weird — as in, "what do I say?" But if you've already worked with the client, you've already got past the awkwardness.
My tip: just picture your favourite client and pretend you are writing to them.
Audit What's Working. While it's quiet, it's a great time to look at your data and find out where your last 5–10 clients came from. Was it social media, Pinterest, Google, word of mouth, Google Ads, advertising, or the networking group you joined? Pinpoint the best 2–3 sources, and double down on those.
If you need a hand with any of these, or with an upcoming design project, feel free to book a chat here
Till next month, Kelly
